Scat

HIV

HIV can be found in the blood that may be present in shit, as well as in the mucus covering shit as in a person’s blood plasma viral load. If you are HIV positive you may be more prone to other infections, like Shigella and Salmonella.

While visual observation is safe, ingestion or smearing has the potential for harm in the form of serious gut infections given that shit contains many forms of bacteria including Shigella and Salmonella, and E.coli. HIV positive people are more prone to these infections.

It is highly recommended to disinfect any areas that come into contact with shit, including the hands and under fingernails. Small particles of shit can also be left in facial hair after rimming so it’s a good idea to wash your face (and beard if you have one) thoroughly after rimming or a scat session. Take extra care to keep any shit away from the eyes or any cuts or open sores as these are direct pathways into your bloodstream.

An easy a no-fuss-no-muss cleanup can be attained by having a good space setup. Using a space with tile or other non pourus material as your flooring is a good way to minimise lingering odours. If you can’t find a purpose-built surface, or a bath/shower you can invest in some good quality tarps or painters plastic drop sheets – just be mindful that these can be thin and tear.

For carpets, you can use a mix of white vinegar and dish soap with warm water, and for furniture some stain removers will help get the job done.
