Victoria Police LGBTIQA+ Liaison Officers (LLOs) are a contact point for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, intersex, queer and asexual community members.
LGBTIQA+ Liaison Officers (LLO) roles and responsibilities
LLOs work to create mutual trust between police and LGBTIQA+ communities. They ensure we maintain a fair and equal policing service.
LLOs provide:
- non-judgemental advice
- discreet help when reporting a crime
- information about support services
- recommendations to our organisation on the policing needs of LGBTIQA+ people.
LLO’s are committed to building relationships and supporting LGBTIQA+ communities. They do this by:
- completing regular training and staying up to date with current and emerging issues
- considering LGBTIQA+ community perspectives in the review and development of Victoria Police policies, processes, and initiatives
- improving how we respond to incidents such as prejudice motivated crimes
- presenting to social and support groups on the role of LLOs, and how police and LGBTIQA+ communities work together.
