LLO LGBTIQA+ Liaison Officers

Victoria Police LGBTIQA+ Liaison Officers (LLOs) are a contact point for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, intersex, queer and asexual community members.

LGBTIQA+ Liaison Officers (LLO) roles and responsibilities

LLOs work to create mutual trust between police and LGBTIQA+ communities. They ensure we maintain a fair and equal policing service.

LLOs provide:

  • non-judgemental advice
  • discreet help when reporting a crime
  • information about support services
  • recommendations to our organisation on the policing needs of LGBTIQA+ people.

LLO’s are committed to building relationships and supporting LGBTIQA+ communities. They do this by:

  • completing regular training and staying up to date with current and emerging issues
  • considering LGBTIQA+ community perspectives in the review and development of Victoria Police policies, processes, and initiatives
  • improving how we respond to incidents such as prejudice motivated crimes
  • presenting to social and support groups on the role of LLOs, and how police and LGBTIQA+ communities work together.
